I always feel fortunate to meet OG/DJ like Skeme Richards in this Culture of Street Dance and Music.
Many of us have been danced (so much!), inspired and educated by his DJ sets at Bboy jams and parties. I like when he plays records that I never heard before, but they are so good that I passionately wonder what they are. At least 1 or 2 for sure I hear music like that during his set.
What we all respect about him is that he is skillful, knowledgeable, keeps it real with what he loves and always share his love to the culture.
So when I asked to interview him, he invited to visit Philly and showed me around the city. and I got to see some “Treasures”!
As a “global DJ, cultural ambassador, foodie and pop culture preserver”(ref. his own website Nostalgia King – “About” page), he is Culturally Authentic, Globally Well-Known, but also Personally Friendly; Skeme was so nice to show his serious collection of Records, Figures, Books, and Sneakers with explaining stories about each one of them for this blog.
His respect to the original productions and the love for the retro-nostalgic flavor and stories are admiring. It was such an honor to visit the house of “Nostalgia King”.
Now, let’s take a look and learn more about the culture, shall we? 😉
the episodes of his collections starts from here :
